Being a great leader is like playing a game of chess, you strategize every move. You carefully consider every possible outcome before making the next counter attack. A great leader is strategic in their thinking and planning. Rather than just looking at the singular big sale, they look at where the big sales are at, partnering to gain market advantage, and creating the perfect strategic alliances that in the long run will generate hundreds and thousands of sales rather than the singular big sale.
With strategy comes tactical intelligence – looking at the facts, figures, numbers, and data - what has worked in the past, innovative proven tactical and strategically planned moves. They are focused. They have a mission and have their eye set on the prize, that final move, the win. A great leader achieves what they set out to do before making the next move. It is a well oiled strategically, tactically, and well focused plan.
If you have played the game of chess ever in your life, you know it takes strategy, focused tactically planned moves. Without that, you will never win the game and without using these skills in your leadership, you will never score the win.

I do strategize and take the tactical approach. It does work most of the time. I feel like there may be something else I'm missing. I'm still looking.

ReplyDeleteStrategy and tactical skill will get you far in life. Without them, you may move, but it won't get you where you want to be.
ReplyDeleteHave you never heard the saying, "The best laid plans of mice and men"? Sometimes you just have to dig in and do it.
ReplyDeleteYou go Bryson, I agree. Another one is 'If you want it done right, do it yourself.'
ReplyDeleteI never liked chess and I really have no interest in being leader. I was a born follower and I'm quite happy doing that. Less stress that way.
