Happy Monday, or at least I hope it is a happy Monday. The news these days isn’t looking real promising as far as the employment rates. Unemployment is at an all time high and many families are suffering seriously due to it – loosing vehicles and homes while still struggling to find employment. It is really ugly and hard at times to find much positive about anything. It is times like this everyone needs to pull together and try even harder to find the good in the world and keep the faith that this too shall pass. Not always easy, understandably so- but more necessary now than ever before.
I woke up today with the these lyrics in my head, don’t know why, but was my inspiration in writing this blog. The lyrics go like this “You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to run…” and my thoughts were, if that isn’t a perfect representation of life in all aspects I don’t know what is. Now, I know the lyrics will be stuck in your head all day too like mine. But that’s good actually because it just may help, if even one person, to know either when they have done all they can on a personal level, in a relationship, or in business and move on, or to know when they need to try maybe just a little bit harder.
In life there are struggles, some easier than others. You can either fight your way through them or fold and start over. Some struggles are well worth the fight, others it is wiser to just fold and move on. No matter what decision you make, it is not failure, as long as you walk away with your head held up high and improve upon yourself and your world. In other words, if you are struggling in a dead in relationship, drop it and move on with your head held up high. When you start a new relationship, take your lessons from your previous relationship, and improve on a new one. It goes the same for business, financial venture, every aspect of your life.
The great thing about life is we do have options and no matter what is going on nothing can take that away from us. They can take the job, the car, and even the house, but only you can allow them to take your pride. I thought I would leave you with a clip off YouTube of the song “The Gambler” by Kenny Rodgers. Enjoy!

Wow, a 3 hit day. I think that picture of the dogs at the card table is really funny. Kenny Rogers is one of my all time favorite artists and The Gambler is one of my favorite songs. You made my day, thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about them lyrics. I listened to this a while ago and it's still running through my mind. That's OK though cause I like Kenny almost as much as House. The words are prophetic, thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteWhile the cat's away, the dogs will play! I've always liked that picture. I used to wonder when I was little what dogs and cats did all day while they were alone in the house. I thought I had discovered the truth when I saw this picture. I really believed it happened. I wasn't in school yet, what did I know?
ReplyDeleteMy friend has that picture hanging in his rec room. It always draws comments and laughs. When we're playing cards we all get the intent looks like the dogs are doing in the picture. It cracks us up. The beer probably helps it along.
ReplyDeletePictures of animals doing human things are cute and this one is no exception. The dog with the cigarette hanging out of his mouth is too funny and so is the one front left holding the pipe. Not that I think smoking is funny, but it is with the dogs doing it.
ReplyDeleteI've folded and started over twice. Didn't make a difference. I think I should have been a nun.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday is an oxymoron, PERIOD.
