“First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” ~ Epictetus
I wanted to start this blog off with that quote. Why? Because that quote is what I have basically been talking about as a whole throughout all my blogs. You can be anything you want to be if you just set your mind to becoming it. It is mind over matter. It is lassoing your subconscious and using the power it holds.
This is a week of giving thanks, and I will be mentioning it quite often through out this week, but one thing many people do not give thanks to is that they have the potential to become whatever they desire with the right attitude and determination. Too many people fall back on excuses as to what they cannot achieve their desires in life when in reality anything is possible. Yes, you will have to work and even have to possibly make sacrifices, but if it is something you truly desire if you put your heart into it you can achieve it.
Today is just as good as any other day and better than tomorrow to start achieving your desires out of life. If you set your mind to it, you can DO IT!

Mind over matter is not a new concept, but it is a critical one. If things are not set in your mind, you'll stumble through life being affected by everything around you instead of you controlling your environment. I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteYou really are in control of your destiny but most people will argue that because they need someone to blame for the state their life is in.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better myself,Cassandra.
ReplyDeleteThe 'I can do it' attitude is weak in most people. Me too at times. Working to strengthen it would behoove a lot of us.
ReplyDeleteOf course we're in control of our own destiny. Even young people who live with their parents have control. They choose to follow, or not, the advice given to them.
ReplyDeleteI am very thankful I control my own destiny. I was never very good at taking orders, even as a child. You can offer suggestions but I bristle at being told I should do somethint, even if they consider it for my own good.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is something we should celebrate every day and not just once a year. Destiny is in our hands, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
